Before the truck arrives
We usually confirm the arrival window the day before, along with any last minute details, a changed parking situation, an elevator that needs reserving, or a piece of furniture added at the last minute. If anything has changed since our original walk through, mention it as early as possible so the crew shows up prepared rather than adjusting on the fly.
On our end, we finalize the crew size and truck for the day based on the inventory we discussed, and load supplies, blankets, straps, dollies, tape, before heading to the pickup address.
Loading the truck
Once the crew arrives, we do a quick walk through together to confirm what is going and what is staying, then start wrapping and loading. Heavier furniture and appliances go in first, positioned to balance the truck, followed by boxes stacked and braced so nothing shifts during the drive.
This part of the day usually takes the longest, and the exact time depends heavily on how many stairs are involved and how far the truck had to park from the door. A ground floor apartment with close parking loads much faster than a third floor walk up.
The drive and arrival
For a local move, the drive is usually short, but for a long distance move this stretches into hours or days, with the crew planning stops in advance. On arrival at the new address, we confirm again where things go before unloading starts, so boxes and furniture land in the right rooms the first time.
If the new place is not fully ready, a floor still being cleaned, a key not yet handed over, we can usually adjust timing rather than force an unload into a space that is not prepared.
Wrapping up the day
Once everything is inside, we reassemble beds and any furniture that was taken apart, do a final walk through of the truck to check for anything left behind, and confirm with you that everything arrived as expected. That final check is a small step, but it catches the occasional forgotten lamp or box before the truck pulls away for good.
