Planning before the truck is loaded
For any move leaving the state, we walk through the home first, either in person or over video, and build an inventory of what is traveling. That inventory sets how big a truck we bring and how we sequence the load, since a long haul needs the weight distributed evenly and the fragile items placed where they will not shift over hundreds of miles.
We also talk through timing on the far end. If you are closing on a house or starting a lease on a specific date, we plan the drive so the truck arrives inside that window rather than showing up early with nowhere to unload or late after you have already spent a night on an air mattress.
How we load for distance
Furniture gets wrapped in blankets and shrink wrap, corners get padded, and anything with drawers gets secured so they do not slide open on the highway. We load the truck in sections, heavy furniture and appliances low and toward the front, boxes stacked and braced so a hard stop does not turn into a mess in the back.
For moves out of Tennessee toward the coast or up through Kentucky and beyond, we plan fuel and rest stops into the schedule ahead of time, so the same crew that loaded the truck in Nashville is the one that carries everything into the new place.
Delivery on the other end
One crew handling both ends of a long distance move means nobody is guessing what condition something left Nashville in. We know which box has the dishes and which one has the lamp with the loose shade, because we were the ones who packed the truck. That makes the unload faster and reduces the chance something gets set down in the wrong room.
If the new home is not quite ready on delivery day, we can talk through short term storage options rather than leaving a truck sitting curbside longer than it needs to.
What to have ready
Have a list of anything that absolutely cannot go on the truck, valuables, medications, documents, so we know to leave that space clear. And keep a phone number active for the whole trip. A long distance move covers more ground and more hours, and a quick call about a gate code or a parking restriction at the new address saves everyone time on delivery day.
